Now that cannabis has been gaining a lot of attention for its medicinal benefits, people have started investigating other herbs for their own benefits. And to their great delight, herbs that have traditionally been used as medicine for thousands of years have been rediscovered, evaluated, and applied to our current understanding of medicine.

A lot of attention has also been applied to women's health and what these herbs offer to the ladies. And to some extent, there have been many such plants that can resolve issues like PMS, skin conditions like acne, bloating, and menstrual cramps. Below are a few examples of herbs that boost women's health.

1. Motherwort

Member of the mint family, motherwort is an excellent remedy for several female reproductive disorders. It can help regulate the menstrual cycle, as well as a great treatment for anxiety and stress. And as its scientific name suggests, motherwort has been used to treat heart conditions such as palpitations.

2. Schisandra

This herb might not be something we hear often but through ancient times, Schisandra has been used to boost our resistance against diseases, increase our energy level, and improve our physical endurance. For the ladies, this herb has excellent anti-aging properties. It can boost the immune system which makes recovery from injuries and surgery faster.

3. Lavender

This herb is a native to the North African and Mediterranean region and has been used for thousands of years in cosmetics as well as in medicine. Lavender is used to addressing skin conditions such as menstrual pain, eczema, and high blood pressure. It can also be used for anxiety, hair loss, and wound healing. Besides being an excellent essential oil, lavender can also alleviate stress and anxiety.

4. Hops

Normally used in breweries to be fermented into beer, hops can also be perfect for promoting healthier digestion. The herb's signature bitter taste can stimulate the salivary glands as well as the production of bile in the liver for better digestion. It can be mixed well with other herbs like ginger, burdock root, and dandelion to improve its taste.

5. Elderberry

Whether to fight the seasonal flu or ease a hangover, elderberry has both long term and short term health benefits. It is a popular immunity system builder, enhancing the system's ability to ward off infection. It can alleviate constipation as well as ease joint and muscle pain.

6. Yarrow

For thousands of years, people have turned to yarrow for its medicinal benefits. This includes diarrhea, asthma, arthritis, and liver problems. For the ladies, yarrow can cure bloating during menstrual periods as well as address stomach discomfort like menstrual cramps.

7. Maca

We saw the recent popularity of the herb maca in recent years. Besides being nutritious, maca also offers medicinal values. It's been used by the Peruvians to enhance the sexual drive for thousands of years. It is the plant recommended for couples trying to conceive. The plant is known to increase fertility in both men and women.

The earth's flora has a lot to offer besides the benefits of CBD oil. Even the plants we deemed useless to have some medicinal value and in fact, have been widely used in the past to treat an ailment or two. Now that more focus is paid on these herbs, people, particularly women, have more options to consider when they're faced with a medical problem.
